Creating a Driveway

Having a driveway is something that is great for a number of reasons. As well as being convenient and ensuring that you have a parking place without the lottery of on street parking, it also means that your car is more secure and adds value to your property. With the rise of electric cars, it is also necessary as you may need to install an EV charger.

If you plan to build a drive, then this will undoubtedly have big benefits for you and your property.

Before you make any plans, your first port of call should be to check whether you need planning permission to build a driveway. As well as the driveway itself, you will also likely need to add a drop kerb outside your home if you haven’t done so already, so you will need to apply to the council to get permission to do this and pay for it to be done so that you can access the driveway.

Once this is all sorted you can then plan your driveway, the size of it and the location of it. You also need to decide on the material that you are going to use for your driveway – for example, concrete is a popular and hard wearing material that you can get from places like this concrete Forest of Dean based company monstermixconcrete.co.uk/concrete-forest-of-dean/ but you can also use tarmac or stone. It is worth having a look at some examples of different materials to help you work out the best option.
